Daniela Lopes Pontes
Founder/Director
Ms. Dani is a Montessori child, a dedicated educator, and the founder and director of SMA, with over 13 years of experience in Montessori education. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Arts and has earned several credentials, including the American Montessori Society Teaching Certification for Early Childhood, MACTE credentialed teacher status, and credentials from the Department of Children and Family, which encompass both Staff and Director Credentials. With years of experience as a lead teacher for toddlers, early childhood, and elementary programs, as well as an infant program assistant teacher, Ms. Dani deeply understands the Montessori curriculum and its implementation across each plane of development. Ms. Dani is passionate about nurturing young minds and ensuring a safe learning environment, as demonstrated by her First Aid and CPR certifications. Her dedication to educational excellence has established her as a respected leader in the Montessori community.
Robert Merrell
Founder/CEO
Mr. Bob is our beloved founder and CEO. With over 30 years of experience in retail and rental operations, he is a results-oriented multi-unit manager with a demonstrated history of success. Currently, he oversees 11 convenience stores in Northwest Florida and excels in recruiting, hiring, training, and team development. He has motivated and inspired teams through innovative strategies and effective management. He studied History at Dallas Baptist University, which enhances his diverse experience and commitment. By focusing on operational excellence and team development, he drives strategic initiatives that improve performance and customer satisfaction. His leadership style promotes collaboration and empowers teams to reach their goals, contributing to the organization's overall success.
Isabella Lopes Pontes Doncea
Director of Curriculum & Development/Head of School
Mrs. Doncea is a Montessori child, the Director of Curriculum & Development, and the Head of School at SoundSide Montessori Academy. With over 22 years of experience in Montessori education, she holds a range of credentials, including an International Montessori Council Infant/Toddler certification, MACTE Credentialed Teacher status, and a Department of Children and Families Staff and Director Credential. Serving as a lead classroom teacher in the infant/toddler, early childhood, and elementary programs has given her a profound understanding of the Montessori curriculum and its implementation according to each plane of development.
Mrs. Doncea also sits on the Board of the Montessori Academy of Naples, Florida, and volunteers for the International Montessori Council Accreditation Committee. Her previous role as Assistant Director at Renaissance Montessori School equipped her with valuable insights into the field. With a formal education in Pedagogy from the College of Education of Bahia in Brazil, over 60 credits in early childhood education at FSW, and various certifications focused on child development and pedagogy, including First Aid and CPR, she is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all children.
